THE PRIZE WINNERS

As usual, great interest was taken in the weight-guessing competitions at the recent A. and P. Show. There were exceptionally large entries, and tlie tickets' handed in revealed" the great area of country from which the big Manawatu fixture draws its crowd every year. All parts of the Island were represented: Raglan, Kawhia, Poverty Bay, Gisborne, Taranaki, the King Country, Wairarapa, and there were also tickets from Marlborough and other South Island visitors.

The experts were all out in their reckoning in the sheep-guessing, fully 90 per cent, getting right away from the total. The correct weight of the three sheep was 3161b5, which nobody guessed. Three tickets tied for the nearest guess, being l|lbs out. They wefe:—B. Guhard, Dannevirke, 314£ lbs.; S. Nielsen, Longburn, 314£lbs; A. H. Reid, They divide the prizes, taking £2 6s 8d The correct weight of the 1 bullock was 6781b5.' It was guessed by seven different people, who receive £1 each. They are:—J. G. O'Brien, Duke Street, Palmerston North; D. Fraser, Bulls; J. B. Moodie, Palmerston North; J. S. Munro, Ghuznee Street, Wellington; O. T. Keeble Palmerston North\ R. Hammond ,-Rongotea; and W. A. Bell,-- Halcombe. - Fully seventy per cent, of the guesses m this competition were well over 7001bs.
