"Mr Wilfrid Hall, of the Bank of New Zealand staff, has returned from a visit to Sydney and-resumed his duties. Mr P. O'Dea, M.A., LL.B., who represents the northern district on the Wanganui Education Board, will oppose Mr Pearce, member for Patea, at the next general, ©lection. Miss Clarice Buckman has received cable advice from Sydney of her engagement by the J. C. Williamson Opera management, and will leave New Plymouth for Sydney in a few days. Mr S. R. Lancaster left Palmerston yesterday for the Christchurch Show, where he will judge English Leioesters. Mr Woodley, of Palmerston, will judge Ayrshires at the;. Hamilton. Show. Mr Barry Yelverton, of Featherston, has just been advised that, through the death of a cousin, he is now Viscount Avonmore. Mr Yelverton is the senior partner in the firm of Yelverton Bros., livery stable keepers, and has been settled in Featherston for many years past._Mr Fox, a former resident of Pal-' irierston and Foxton, was in town yes- 1 terday, having just concluded a lecturing tour of the West Coast. . Mr Fox came from England a few months ago for the benefit of his health, and he_ has improved so much that he is thinking, of taking up his residence again in the Palmerston district. He will probably engage in the dairying industry. .Mrs Fox. is leaving England on Friday next.
