LIEUT. BUCKLEY AGAIN BEATEN. (By Electbio Telegbaph—Copybight. l (Peb JPBESS Association, i MELBOURNE, Oct. 19. At the Baliariit competitions the champion. coinet solo was concluded at midnight. . Fifty-three competitors entered, but some scratchcd. Percy Cobe, of Melbourne, 84 points, was first; Lieut'. Buckley, Wanganui, 83, was second after a tie; P belong, Sydney, 78, third; and James McGrath, Wanganui, 75, fourth. The judge said that the playing was quite a treat. The New Zealander was at a disadvantage iri drawing last place and having to wait about for five hours. The trombone solo resulted: Walling (Wanganui) Ist; Shackles (Ballarat) 2nd; Thomas' (Victoria) 3rd. The winner was three points ahead. ' Quartettes: Echuca Ist, Northey's (Wanganui) 2nd, Collingwood 3rd, Buckley's (Wanganui) 4th. Wanganui was unplaced in the trombone trio and the bass solo.
