The New Zealander was at a disadvantage iri drawing last place and having to wait about for five hours. The trombone solo resulted: Walling (Wanganui) Ist; Shackles (Ballarat) 2nd; Thomas' (Victoria) 3rd. The winner was three points ahead. ' Quartettes: Echuca Ist, Northey's (Wanganui) 2nd, Collingwood 3rd, Buckley's (Wanganui) 4th. Wanganui was unplaced in the trombone trio and the bass solo.
