To-morrow and on Wednesday the Manawatu Racing Club will hold its annual autumn meeting at Awapuni. The events of the last few days in town have diverted attention somewhat from the close approach of the meeting, which, provided the rain holds off, promises to bo one of the most successful held by the Club- within recent years. The acceptances are better than they have been for a long time past, and as the majority; of the horses engaged hav© arrived on tho scone it is evident that the promise of the acceptances will be seen -in the events themselves. Special train services have been arranged by the Club from Wairarapa, and the East and West Coasts, and these are likely to bring in a big crowd of visitors, who are sure of good sport. Both the big events and the classic, the Sixth Manawatu Stakes, are sure to be especially interesting races. Penates, Formby, Danube, Parula, Sir Geo. Clifford's team, in fact all the prominent horses, arrived yesterday.
