FLOOD WATERS.

— m> (Pfr Press Association.) NAPIER, April 7. In consequence of the way in which the district was threatened by serious floods during the recent rains, a conference between the representatives of the Hawke's Bay County Council and the Clive. Mceanee, and Taradale River Boards was held at Mceanee to-day. A majority of speakers were in favour of having 'the control of rivers centralised, and the disadvantage of the present divided control wore referred to, but the divergence of views on various points was apparent. It was decided that in the meantime the member for the district should approach the Government with a view of obtaining the services of an engineer to report on the method of dealing with flood waters.
