SEIZURE OF OPIUM.
IN I-lAINING STREET. Sergeant Rutledge, of the Mount Cook Police Station, accompanied by Constable McKelvey. raided premises, No. 29, Raining street, Wellington, last night, and seized a. quantity of opium and a number of smoking utensils. ■.
The raid was carried out with great diliiculty, the police officers making their way to the suspected house from Frederick street and climbing a number of fences on tho way.
Several Chinamen were on the premises, but. only one of them was smoking the prohibited drug-. This was Chin Ah Leong, and he was arrested and lodged in the cells at Mount C'oolc.
