METHODIST QUARTERLY MEETING.
4t -Vshhurst vesterday the quarterly board of the Palmerston Methodist circuit held its usual meeting, when aoout rhirtv officers were present, the Rev- .O. \V j. Spence, chairman of the district, presiding. The financial statement o; the circuit was presented by Messrs G. H. Bennett and K. E. Harvey., circuit stewards, and showed. ovv iij to extraordinary expenditure, a slight deficit. The stewards also presented a financial re-assessment of the various churches of the circuit, and this wa» approved bv the meeting. Vvord v. - as received that" the Rev. Heighway.of Fiji, will be this year's •official foreign mission deputation, and arrangements were made for his visit to the circuit during the coming quarter. A testimonial of appreciation to Mr A. Peart, who has just left Pohangina. was received ana signed on behalf of tne circujt. Mr H. Havdon. one of the official representatives at the recent conference, presented a report of the work done, and received the meeting's thanks. An increase '«s made in the stipend of the second minister of the circuit. The members of the quarterly meeting re entertained at tea by the lad'.es of the A'ihhurst Church, and the meeting adjourned in time to catch the Palmers-t-orj train.
