DUNEDI.N, April 6. J The inquest concerning the death J of Janet McColl, who died in the house of Mrs Durston, nurse, at Mornington, on March 25, from bloodpoisoning, following upon confinement on March 16, was resumed to-day. Elizabeth McColl, sister of deceased, said when she visited deceased the latter looked very ill, and complained of being very tired. "Witness suggested that deceased should go to the hospital, but Mrs Durston said that was unnecessary, as she had nursed her through the worst of her illness, and silo would be better where she was. Witness also suggested calling in a doctor, but both Mrs Durston and deceased said that was unnecessary. Deceased did not inform witness that she was coming to town. Witness knew a man named Thos. Carr, who was their neighbour at Waitaliuna. j She had heard he had come to DuncI din in the same train as deceased, and asked him if such was the case. He denied it at first, but afterwards said lie had done so. He said they parted on the Duncdin railway station. On March 12 Carr said deceased was with some people he knew, and was all right. Ho would not give their address, but said if witness would go with him on the following Monday he would take her to deceased. On Monday, March 31, witness, her brother, and' Carr came to Duncdin in the same train. Witness left her brother and Carr at the Octagon. Carr would not take them to where deceased was, but said he would go himself. "Witness had not seen Carr since coming from Wait ahu na. He travelled in the Guard's van. Dugald McColl, recalled, said that in Duncdin Carr said he would go and see if deceased was whore lie had leit her, or if she. had gone to N.E. Valley to her sister. Witness had not seen Carr since that day. Sarah McColl, in the course of evidence, said deceased was missing for a week. In reply to the foreman oi' the jury the Coroner said the police could not'find Carr. The inquest was further adjourned till Monday.
