MANAWATU GOLF CLUB.

At a mooting of debenture holders held at All Sainis' Schoolroom on Wednesday, April 6. at 3.45, Mr P. Mcl Tardy was elected to represent the debenture holders on the Committee in place of Mr A. Seifert, resigned. Mr H. G. Moore is the other member. At the annual meeting of the Club 39 members were present. After the report and balance-shoot had been adopted, with a general expression of satisfaction in the affairs of t.ho Club, and ihe good work of the committee, the following officers were elected: —President. Mr IT. Cooper (re-elected).; vicepresident. Mr V. Harinan ; captain, Mr A. Strang; lion. sec.. Mr L. A. Abraham (re-elected); lion, treasurer. Mr G. W. Harden (re-elected); trustee. Mr F. 11. Cooke; committee. Messrs M. Cohen and G. Wilson, the full committee thus being—Messrs R. Stowe. A. Barraud, M. Cohen, and G. Wilson, with the two debenture members. Messrs H. G. Moore and P. Mctlardy. The president specially referred to the good work done for the Club by Mr W. Strang, who was about to leave the Dominion for a visit to England, and great appreciation was also expressed for the excellent work done by the lion, treasurer, Mr G. W. Harden, and the Ground Committee, special reference being made to Mr A. Strang. Mr H. N. Watson then moved certain alterations to Rules 22 a and h, and a lengthy discussion ensued. With the exception of the mover, the speakers generally expressed their entire satisfaction with tho committee's action in the past, but considered that these rules which related to the rights of members' children playing over the links during their term of holidays should bo made more elastic, and cover those at schools in Pahnerston as well as those who went to outside schools. Finally Mr IT. N. Watson withdrew his proposals in favour of a notice of motion by Mr Cohen to propose, at a special general meeting, to alter rule h to give the committee power to allow members' sons and daughters from any schools to play over the links during their term holidays, subject to certain restrictions, and to a foe to be fixed. This found favour with the ing'The Secretary brought up, at the request of several ladies, tho suggestion to open the new Club-house with a dance. This was referred to the Committee. It was decided to hold the opening day of the season on Saturday, April 16, when mixed foursomes will be played for prizes presented as usual by Barraud and Abraham. Ltd. The meeting then terminated with a hearty vote of thanks to the chairman, and the members adjourned to drink the health of Mr and Mrs Walter Strang, and to wish them bon voyage and tho best of good times while away.
