"THE IMMORTAL MEMORY." (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) (Pee Press Association.! LONDON, April 6. Lord Coleridge presided at the banquet promoted by the Poetry Recital Society, to bring together descendants, or, failing that, the nearest family representatives of the great poets of the past. The banquet was fixed for April sth, that being Swinburne's birthday. There were throe hundred guests, including potes and poets' descendants, among whom were the Duke of Norfolk, Rt. Hon. Alfred Lyttelton, , and representatives of Philip Sidney, Suckling, Rochester, Scott, Milton, Spcncer, Dryden, Pope and seven members of Shakespeare's family.
The toast to the imjnortal memory of British Poets was drunk in silence.
Rangriuia, the Maori tenor, who has met with great success in London, in Maori costume, gave native songs and a war dance, after the banquet.
