CHILD BLOWN TO PIECES.
PORT MACQUARIE, March 18
A son of Mr Harry Bacon, of Rolland's Plains, was blown to pieces by a detonator, which he threw in the kitchen fire. It appears that a little mate found a tin containing several detonators, and gave them to young Bacon to play with. Being made of brass, his mother, who did not know what they were, told him not to let the baby suck them, but to throw them away. The child went off and threw them into the stove,- and almost immediately after there were three terrific explosions. The mother rushed into the room, and found her little boy lying on the kitchen floor frightfully mutilated. An inquest was held, and a verdict of accidental death recorded.
