(Pee Peess Association.) AUCKLAND, April 4. Mr Gunson, chairman of the Cham-

ber of Commerce', says the proposal to_ form a North Island league emanating from Hastings is by no means new. It was discussed by the Auck- ' land Chamber from time to time. His opinion is that it is certainly time for carrying into effect something like this. Members of the Auckland Chamber are of one mind on the subject. The Chamber has been working quietly with the Auckland Railway League to further the interests of Northern lines, and now the North Island holds the balance of power in Parliament so far as members are concerned, some united action should have ail appreciable effect. •There seems no reason why the Government should not be forced to give that attention to the railway lines of til© North that in the past has been given to the Sontli end of tho Dominion to the detriment of northern interests.
