POHANGINA COUNTY COUNCIL.

The ordinary meeting of the Pohan- I gina County Council was held on Satur- ' day. There were present—Cra. Brown (chairman), Howie, Smith, Burne, Wagstaff, Eglinton, and Bailey. CORRESPONDENCE. From S. A. Caldwell, asking for permission to erect fence on the side of the road through the Government reserve at Te Punga. —Permission withheld in the meantime till report received from engineer. From O. S. Tyerman, asking that Reid's Line be formed to the end of the road. It was also desired that the creek be regraded.—Cr. Burne to report. From Treasury asking for details of expenses incurred in connection with London's Ford bridge. From C. F. Hart, applying for permission to erect a fence on the road opposite Pawson's. —Permission granted. From Spencc and Spcncc applying for hawker's licence. —Granted. From Oroua County Council applying for contribution of £200 towards the ercction of a traffic bridge at Mcnzie's Ford. The estimated cost of the bridge was £3160, and the apportionment as follows: —Government subsidy, £1000; Feilding Borough, £500; Pohangina. C.C., £200; settlers' valuation contribution, £300; Oroua C.C., £1160—Decided to replv that this Council had just been under heavy expense with the re-erection of the Pohangina bridge, to which the Oroua Council was not asked to contribute, and regrets not being able to comply with the request.

REPORTS. The treasurer, Mr D. P. Jones, reported bank balances as follows for the past month: —General account, dr. £1495 16s 8d; loan account, cr., £4 10s lOd. Riding accounts—Awahou, cr., £151 12s 9d; Coal Creek, cr., £252 19s lid; Mangaone, dr., £241 12s lid; Mangipikopiko, cr., £172 19s 2d; Pohangina, cr., £2 12s lid; Tamaki, dr., £70 10s 3d; Umiitoi, dr., £270 15s 7d. Outstanding rates total £3 7s 4d. Application has been made to the State Guaranteed Advances Board for amount of London's Ford and Parson's Ford bridges loans. Accounts totalling £290 Is 6d were passed for payment, and the report was adopted. The engineer recommended that 200 yards of metal be placed on No. 1 Line, 200 yards on No. 2 Lino, and 100 yards on No. 3 Line, Awahou; that tenders, to close in a fortnight, bo called for quarrying and delivering 500 yards of metal on the Oroua Valley road which had been inspected by the engineers of both Kiwitea and Oroua Counties. Plans for metalling about 45 chains of Finms' Track had been sent to the District Engineer for approval. Attention was directed to the state of the roadside drains at Raumai. It was recommended that the road leading into Digger's Creek be repaired, and that the road leading up the Piri Piri Hill be metalled, that the groyne at the end of the Makiekic road be repaired. Attention was drown to the spread of noxious weeds within the county. The engineer was instructed to have drinking troughs erected in the Awahou and Mangaone Ridings at Church Hill and Horseshoe. Bend. The engineer was instructed to repair Piri Piri Hill and flat, Umutoi, also Piri Piri, Homalci, the cost in Tamaki not to exceed £25. Routine business was transacted, 'and tho meeting terminated.
