(From Our Own Correspondent.) | A young man named .Charles Roberij son, in the employ of Mr A. Saunders I at Moutoa, met with a nasty accident on Wednesday afternoon, He was driving in the co-ws, when the horse he was riding suddenly swerved, throwing tho rider on to some stones. He sustained, among other things, a broken finger and rib. The doctor also fears internal injuries as well, but is unable to say for certain at present. Mr W. H. Gunning was successful in scooping the podl with his exhibit of cactus dahlias at the Foxton Horticultural Show. The newly-formed Road Racing Club are considering the advisability of postponing the race until the 13th inst., owing to the present date clashing with the Tokomaru Athletic Association's first meeting. Mother Mary Aubert"*will open the bazaar next week, which is to be held in aid of the Home of Compassion. Mr W. 11. Field, M.P., and Mrs Field havo, expressed their intention of being pre-' sent. Many residents have expressed their regret at the local Rifle Club not being represented at Trentham. On more than \ one occasion our local men have been in the "final fifty." We can, however, look forward to" 1911, and hope that ono of them will come out on top.
