In the House of Commons, replying to Mr Hazleton, Mr Lloyd-George stated that Ireland's share of the new taxation under the Budget was £3,438,000, while her benefit from old age pensions was £2,640,000. Mr Henniker IXeaton, in a letter to his constituents suggesting that an election will be held in June, announces his j intention to retire at the end of the present Parliament from health considerations. REFORM FROM WITHIN. LONDON, March 10. In the House of Lords Lord Roeebery has given notice of the following resolutions: — 1. That a strong and efficient second Chamber is an integral pa.-tot the Constitution and is necessary for the wellbeing of the State and the balance of Parliament. 2. That such a Chamber can be best obtained by Hie reform and reconstruction of the House of Lords. • 3. That a necessary preliminary to such reconstruction is the acceptance of the principle that the possession of a peerage no longer of itself gives the right to sit and vote in the House of Lords.
