SPORTING.
The result of judicious advertising is seen in the response to tho Shannon Hack Racing Club, whose nominations we published yesterday. The nominations average just about 13 for each event, and as acceptances are alwaye liberal at the Line township meeting a good' day's sport is sure to eventuate. Weights will be adjusted by Mr U. Shannon, and will be issued on Friday. Acceptances close on the 18th inst. Owners and trainers are reminded that nominations for the Danncvirke races close with the secretary, Mr J. S. Freeman, at 9 o'clock on Thursday night. Telegraph office closes at 8 p.m.
EGMONT RACES. (Per Pbess Association. ) HAWERA, Feb. 9. The Egmont summer meeting commenced to-day in cloudy weather. There was a good attendance. Results: — Flying Handicap.—Clomora 1, North East 2, Sandstream 3. Also started: Golden Eagle, Koran. Lethean, Nicotine. Won by half a length. Time, 1.15.
