NEW ZEALAND EXPORTS.

The Department of Commerce and Tourists has juet issued the returns of chief exports from New Zealand for January (subject to alteration). They show an increase of £882,307 for the period when compared with January of last year: — Jan., 1909. Jan., 1910. £ £

Totals £1,963,114 £2,845,421 The dairy season began much earlier for the year 1909-10 period, and although both butter and cheese show a decline of values for the month, the totals of both commodities show substantial increase for the twelve months ended 31st January. For example, the values, of exports of butter and cheese for the period were: — Butter. Cheese. £ ' £ 1909 ... 1,215,575 780,800 1920 ... 1,638,079 1,078,977 Wool shows a most substantial increase tor the same period, being: — £ 1909 5,298,147 1910 7,217,045 Wheat, too, looms very largo, the values for the .same period being, for 1909, £343, and for 1910, £305,912.
