OROUA DRAINAGE BOARD.
PRELIMINARY MEETING. The preliminary meeting of the Oroua drainage Board was held, in Glen Oroua yesterday. The returning officer (Mr E. J. Armstrong) reported on the result of tho election, and all the elected trustees | were present. Mr John Dalton was elected chairman. j Mr Armstrong was appointed secretary | pro tern. Tho Secretary asked for and was granted authority to sue for the recovery of all unpaid rates owing to the late Sluggish River Drainage Board, and Mr Whittaker was given similar authority in connection with tho Horseshoe Drainago Board. It was decided to hold the meetings; at Glen Oroua on tho first Monday in each month at 1.30 p.m., the next meeting to be held, however, on the 16th inst. Tho Bank of New Zealand was appointed tho Board's bank, the Feilding branch to be used. It was decided to apply for an overdraft to the extent ' of the joint overdrafts of the amalgamated boards. The Chairman and Secretary were appointed by the Board • to draft a classification list for rating purposes, to be submitted to the Board.
