RAUMAI.

Tho annual picnic in connection with the Awahou South School was held on Saturday in a paddock kindly lent by Mr P. Spelman. The weather was everything that could be desired, there was an unusually large attendance, and the schools in the vicinity > were well represented. The tables, which were under cover from the sun, were laden with refreshments, and were presided over by a numbeo of energetic ladies who were kept busy supplying lunch and afternoon tea. The committee responsible for the arrangements comprised the following: Messrs G. H. Hunt (chairnian), P. Spelman. D. Hardie. R. Retomoyer, D, 8011, V. Callesen, and W. . Hensen, ably assisted by the energetic teacher, Mr P. E. Lewis, all endeavouring to make tho day's outing as pleasant as possible. The chairman distributed the prizes, and prior to doing so, on behalf of the committee, thanked the ladies for providing refreshments to those who subscribed towards the funds, and to Mr P. Spelman for use of paddock. The following received prizes : Standard VII. : Nora Callcson, Delphin Spelman. Ned Loamy, Arthur Calleson. Standard VI.: Eileen Lynch, Annie Millcn, Susie Bell, George Hunt, Clifton Spelman. Standard V.: Leo Bailey, Tom Loamy, Henry Hunt, Fred Spelman, Kathleen Spelman. Standard III.: Agnes Spelman, Olive Hunt. Standard IL: Adela Spelman, Fred Calleson, B. Spelman. Standard I.: Oscar Callcson. Primmer 11. : Kate Henson, Mary Leamy, Eileen Spelman. Primmer I. : Mary Spelman. Mary Wcllock, Albert Henson. Special for regular attendance: N. Calleson. Olive Hunt, Kate Henson. Adela Spelman. Albert Henson, Henry Hunt. Special prizes wore awarded by Mr G. H. Bennett, for married and young ladies' races: —Married: Mrs G. H. Hunt 1. Mrs Rich. Port 2. Young ladies: Miss Harnett 1, Miss Sheridan 2. Owing to the intense heat most of the adults preferred taking shelter under the trees rather than indulging in games.
