THE SATURDAY COMPETITION,
FEILDING DEFEAT OLD BOYS A. Perfect cricket wcnrhor greeted players on the resumption of the Barraud Cup competition on Saturday, when Old Boys failed to overtake tlie big' lead established by Feilding a couple of weeks before. The country team had made 226 in their first effort,- and Old Boys responded with 106. of which Churchill contributed 23, Wakclin 24. and McKenzie and Claughton a dozen each. In their second innings the home team fared worse, Ongley being again deadly. Only 80 runs were scraped together, thus leaving Feilding winners by an innings and 40 runs. The B's, in their second effort, made 96, of which Joe Gesiro made 22 and Peed not- out 16. United, with a deficiency of 143_ to make tip, comtnenc'/d thoir .second innings, and ;i« matters stand now have lost two wickets for 59. Goldspring (not out) 34. The finish should be very close, but. when that finish will eventuate is uncertain. There are already three, or four matches si ill in the indecisive stage.
