A DYNAMITE OUTRAGE.
RAILWAY CULVERT DESTROYED.
(By Electric Telegbaph—Copyright.) (Peb Pbess Association.) ! SYDNEY, Feb. 4. A culvert under the Aberdare railway line was blown up by dynamite. The line is the property of the Aberdare Collieries Company and the outrage occurred between the North and Caledonia stations. The culvert is completely wrecked and two pair of rails were blown out. The motive is supposed to be to stop the carriage of coal from the Bellbird colliery, near Crcssnock, which was being loaded by free labour. STRIKE LEADERS' TRIAL. SYDNEY, Feb. 4. The hearing of the charges of conspiracy against Bowling and the other strike leaders have been postponed till Monday, owing to the illness of Brennan, one of the accused. IMPRISONMENT OF MINERS. SYDNEY, Feb. 4. Pees and Young, two of tho miners' delegates, recently fined £100, have been lodged in gaol for not paying the fine. THE MEN'S REQUEST FOR A CONFERENCE. DECLINED BY THE OWNERS. Received February 5, 10.45 a.m. SYDNEY, Feb. 5. Owing to the shortage of coal the oredressing mills of the Broken Hill Proprietary have shut down, rendering 600 men idle.
The Northern owners declined the men's request for a conference and intimated that they had nothing further to add to tho letter of November 12, in .which they ihade it clear they would not confer with the men till they returned to work. INDIGNATION IN HUNTLY. AUCKLAND, Feb. 5. A meeting of coal miners at Huntly, Mr Fulton, president of the Waikato Miners' Union presiding, passed a resolution of indignation at the imprisonment of the Newcastle strike leaders, and resolved to send £150 to the distressed miners in Australia.
