FAT LAMBS ON THE LONDON
MARKET
Mr J. C. Lane, secretary of the Manawatu A. and P. Association, has received the following details relative to the carcasee of mutton shipped Home after the late spring show for final judgment through Henry S. Fitter and Sons, London. ■ In class 259, best five fat lambs, most euitable for freezing, the judging in the Palmerston pens was confirmed at Home, Mr F. S. Mcßae, who> took first prize here also securing first prize at Home, the report stating the sheep were, of nice quality and of useful size. Mr J. Henson's lambs, second in Palmerston, were also second at Home, the report stating they were of fair quality but meaty. Messrs Collis and Son's lambs were third and were described as .of middling quality, too plain. In class 260, five fat lambs, Down or Down crosses, most" suitable, for freezing and the London market,: Mr: F. Rae r sv lambs were again placed .first,; though only-'third.in the yards here. The lambe-were-described'as being, of- choicer quality, short in the leg and.very meaty. Mr G. E. Swainson'e lambs, which were highly commended at Palmerston,- were second in London, their description boing choice- quality,- nice size and well finished. Mr J. Henson's lambs, second in Palmerston, were third at Home. They were referred to as being of very nice quality, full of meat. Mr G. E. Swainson's second pen of lambs, not placed in the pens, were fourth in Lon- ■ don and wei'e said to be of very good quality, short legs and full of meat. Messrs Collis and Son's lambs, first at Palmerston, were only fifth at Home. They were referred to as of good quality I and very meaty. At Palmerston, the judge, Mr W. Richmond, said the class; was a very good one of well grown lambs.
