A Mafia gang at- Palermo in broad daylight in a public square assassinated an American detective named Petrosini, who was investigating their' connection with the- Black Hand Society. Petrosini defended himself with a revolver, and received many wounds. He did more than any man in the United States to bring Italian criminals to justice.
