A resident of the city has received a letter from Lord Roberts, who says he is delighted with the line Mr Deakin has adopted in connection with I defence proposals and he hopes they will be carried. MELBOURNE, March 18. Statistics show that the returns of the wheat harvest will give an actual yield of 12,100,780 bushels, and an average of 6.55 bushel! to the acre. Tho exportable surplus is a little over four millions. _A suggestion has been mooted to invite President Roosevelt to accompany the Fleet.
