PERSONAL.
A member of the Fourth (Rough Kiders) New Zealand Contingent to South Africa, Scrgt. J. B. Vallancc, is at present lying seriously ill in Masterton Hospital. jjilr Joseph Potrie. editor of the GreyniGuth Star, and Mayor of Greymouth, was a visitor to Palmorston yesterday. Mr Petrie left for Wanganui to-day, but will return in the course of a few days, and expects to be in this district for about a fortnight, combining business with pleasure.
