TENNIS.
Yesterday a number of tennis players from the Palmerston Club visited Dannevirke and played an enjoyable match with the players there. The following were the members of th© Palmereton team: — Mesdames Pickett and Bendall, Misses Wilson, Reed, Porter and Waldegrave, Messrs A. D. Thomson, F. W. Connell, C. Smith, H. B. U Smith, W. L. Fitzherbert, A. R. Crawe, G. t>. Reed, E. L. Broad and C. L. Smith. In all 30 sets were played, Dannevirke winning 20 and Palmerston 10, the day's play resulting in 205 points for the home team arid 191 for the visitors. The Palmerston players speak highly of the courts at Dannevirke, which they state are in excellent order, while the welcome accorded them was a right royal one.' At the conclusion Mr A. D. Thorn? son, on behalf of the Palmerston team, thanked the Dannevirke players for the cordial welcome that had been extended to the visitors and expressed the hope that a Bannevirke team would visit Palmerston next season,. «■-.!« i ■HII-μ iifnireni ,hiw»:tob»
