PALMERSTON NORTH FOOTBALL CLUB MEETING.

A meeting of. the Palmerston North Football Club was held last night in Cotton's rooms, Cuba-sf.., when' there was a very large attendance of members. Mr A. N. Gibbons was voted to the chair. REPORT AND BALANCE-SHEET. The report stated that last year the club had partly regained the position they had formerly held. In the senior division it had at first been hampered by lack >of members, but improved later on and narrowly missed winning the Abraham Shield. The juniors had proved the runners-up in the tournament. The finances were in an eminently satisfactory state, showing a substantial credit balance. The bal-ance-sheet was as follows: —Receipts: Cash in hand from 1906 4s 6d, sub- j scriptions and donations £19 16s 3d, members' donations £1 Is 9d, sundries Is Bd, total £22 10s 6d. Expenditure: Union fees £3 3s, insurance £2 2s, advertising 7s, accounts £3 15s, extras £5 4s 6d, leaving the sum of £7 19s. 6d as cash in hand. The chairman congratulated the club on its fine financial position, and also in regard to members this year. One feature- which he thought was unique among football clubs was that every subscription of (last year had been paid. The committee deserved great credit for being able to place such a splendid balance-sheet before them, and tiie club was to be commended for pulling so well together. If the juniors held together this season they should win the Manawatu Rugby contest. He moved the adoption of the report and balance-isheet.—Carried. OFFICERS. The following officers were elected for the ensuing year:—Patron, Captain Hewitt; president, Mr H. F. Gibbons ; vice-nresidents, Sergt. Stagpoole, Drs. Putnam, Peach and Tatton, and Messrs Childs, R. Essex, D. Buick, L. Bennett, Hurley, H. S. PorteoTis; secretary pro tern, Mr Eglinton; treasurer, Mr Kyle; captain, Mr Bqone (with acclamation); deputy captain, Mr Downs; management committee, Messrs Buff, Stubbs, "Wingate, Buick, Stagpoole.

A vote of thanks was unanimously passed to the retiring secretary, Mr G. Richter, who is leaving the district. The following were elected delegates to tli© Rugby Union, Messrs W. L. Fitzherbert, C. MeWilliam, Sergt. Stagpoole, G. Tortenson, E. W. Seeker and J. Jury. Selection Committee —Messrs Boon, Downes and Jury. GENERAL BUSINESS. A letter was received from the secretary of the Manawatu Rugby FootI ball Union notifying that the annual ! be held in the supper rooms of the general meeting of delegates would Opera House on the 27th inst at 7.30 p.m. Also from the secretary of the Oriental Club, Wellington, asking to arrange fixtures with the club. The correspondence was referred to the management committee for consideration. It was resolved that the secretary be instructed to write to the secretary of the A. and P. Association re getting the use of the Association's grounds for play on Saturday week, when the club will open their season. The subscriptions were left the same as last year, viz., ss, juniors and thirds 2d 6d. PRESENTATION. The chairman then said he had a very pleasant duty to perform, which was to present Mr Ryan, on the occasion of his leaving Palmerston, with a slight token of the esteem in which he was held by his fellow members. The present took the form of a handsome silver-mounted letter book, and < the chairman hoped Mr Ryan would accept it and the very best wishes of the club for his success in his new sphere.

In reply Mr Ryan said he was very sorry to have to go away and thanked the members for their gift, which he said would always remind him of the good times he had had and the fine fellows he had played with in Palmerston. A hoarty vote of thanks to the chair man terminated the meeting.
