DOWN THE LINE.
I (From Our Own Correspondent.) ! . OTAKI, March 14. Mrs Wrigley, who is shortly to leave Levin for Waihi, has been presented by the ladies of the Temperance Union with a silver-backed hairbrush and comb. The presentation was made by Mrs Goldsmith in a highly complimentary speech. There is absolutely no truth in the rumour that suspicious characters are about the town, and the. local coestable informs me that the window-breaking episode was probably the result of a lad throwing stones. Tho annual -.general meeting of the Tainui Football Club was held last night, Mr ""Bernasconi in the chair. A small credit balance was shown, and the report was considered satisfactory. The officers elected were almost the same as last year.
