Intending buyers are reminded of the clearing sale to be held on Wednesday by Gorton and Son on Mr J. Chubbin's farm, near Hunterville. The stock includes good dairy cows and first-class sheep. Koberstein to hold a clearing sale on his property, Spur Road, near Makino, on Saturday, June Bth, at 12.30. Fifty-five first-class dairy cows, 15 dairy heifers, nearly 400 Romney sheep, hoises, pigs, farm, implements, etc., will be offered. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, June 3. The Department of Industries and Commerce has received a cable from tho High Commissioner, dated London, June Ist, as follows:—The market is steady, but the demand is only moderate. Holders are firm and the supply of light weight mutton is increasing. The average price to-day was 4d for Canterbury brands, and 3|d for North Island. The lamb market remains firm, and there is a good demand for all classes, especially heavy weights. Canterbury s|d, other brands 5Jd. The beef market is firm and prices continue to advance. Hind ana fore quarters, 3|d and 3£d respectively. The butter market is firm, and superior grades are in demand. New Zealand supplies are running short. Choicest qualities are 99s per cwt. Cheese is firm, and there is an improved demand for New Zealand makes. White cheese 675, coloured 65s per cwt. The hemp market is depressed owing to reports from Manila which indicate that shipments are likely to increase. Good fair grade on spot is quoted at £33, and fair grade is in the same position, and is worth £28 10s. The value of faur current Manila on spot is £35 10s. The cocksfoot seed market is firm. Bright, clean pressed, 54s per cwt. The wool market remains firm.
