Laj Patria, a prominent ringleader in the Lahore disturbances, has been deported. A second ringleader is in hiding. The garrison at Lahore has been strongly "reinforced, owing to increased unrest and to the fact that large numbers of stalwart rustics have been brought to Lahore by agitators. All meetings are prohibited. (deceived May 11th, 10.16 a.m.) CALCUTTA, May 10. The situation at Lahore is serious. Sir W. Ibbetsen, the Governor, has postponed his departure and closely inspected the defences. Laj Patria is a pleader in the Punjab Chief Court. He was an organiser, financier, and inspires of seditious violence. The Government's bcld step in deporting him startled the Hindoos, who counted upon inaction. (Received May 11th, 11.22 a.m.) CALCUTTA, May 10. Later reports show that Lahore is overawed by the military. Laj Patria has been deported to the Andaman Islands.
