High School v. Oroua Bridge.
This match resulted in the easy defeat of the country team by 69 rune, the scores being High School 100, Oroua Bridge 31. The School went in first and registered the century before being dismissed. The principal scoring was done by: Mather 22, Waldegrave 19, and Foote 17. Skelley and Rogers did the bowling for Oroua Bridge. In their first innings the visitors scored only 31, none of the players reaching double figures. Mather and O'Brien bowled well for the school. The visitors then followed on and time was played out, but the scores were not taken into account. A return match between Manawatu and Feilding cricketers will be played in Palmerston. next Saturday. The game will commence at 11 a.m. sharp, lunch being provided on the ground by the local team. In consequence of this fixture no Cup matches will be played on Saturday. High School will meet, for the sake of keeping things going, a mixed team from Old Boys and P.F.C.
The Feilding school sent a team down to Palmerston on Saturday to play a game with the Campbell-street school boys. The visitors won by two wickets and ten runs.
The team that will represent the U.F.C.A. against the Post Office on Wednesday afternoon next wili be as follows:—Durward, Bear, Roe, Walden, Spackman, Hardwick, M. Hartigan, Butler, Nelson, Litchfield, Cleaver. Mr Dempsey has kindly donated a very handsome salad bowl, which is to go to the man who makes the highest batting average for U.F.C.A. during the next three matches.
