At. the Police Court to-day Constables Jame3 McDonald and Thomas Moses were charged wifh, about the 9ih inst., breaking and entering the warehouse of ths DIC. Co. end stealing therefrom a •^number of articles, the property of the D.iC. Ct and of the total value of £40. Evidence was given by the employees of the DI.I!. identifying the goods, and by Eobt. McQuillan, grocer who lived next door to Moses On the morning of the arrest he saw Motes packing up the things. He brought a case to witness nnd said he had received twelve days' holiday, and asked to leave things which were marriage presents in charge of witness as be dia not think they would be safe in his own cotta&e. Witness informed Detective .Herbert next n>orn nt>. Accused roserved their defence, a«d were committed for trial Bail was fixed at frffl each, and two sureties for each in £201) each.
