LONDON, October 20.
The Russians opposite Oka's left wing are entrenching in a. lme from Mengtapau, 13 miles south-west of Shahopu, to Sankiatze and Hanghaitai. A considerable extension, of Oyama's left wing is thus indicated. '
The Standard's correspondent with Kuroki states that a-Russian battalion was almost annihilated while returning across the Taitse river on a pontoon bridge. Japanese cavalry overtook the battalion and got machine guns in position. They swept the bridge from end to end. This is the first time in the war machine guns have been used decisively. ■ The Baltic fleet has passed through the Cattegat. , ■." :,-.
