Russian Retreats Pre-arranged.
A Flanking Movement Prevented.

LONDON, Oct. 20.
. General Sakharoff reports that Captain Dembovski and his detachment of volunteer chasseurs boldly reconnoitred at night in the vicinity of Shahopu and captured two field pieces without fighting. •■■'
A correspondent declares that captured maps show that all Eussian retreats were pre-arranged.
Some of Oku's cavalry crossed the Hun and prevented the Eussian flanking movement.
Field Marshal Oyama reports that the Russians fronting ELuroki are diminishing. Those in front of Nodzu on the night of the 17th tried, several attacks but were repulsed and only an artillery duel was maintained on the 18th, the enemy in front of Oku occasionally sending an indirect fire, but stopped within 600 to 1000 yards, and are now entrenching.
