Lowes and lorns, Ltd., report as follows regarding their JM'asterton sale held on Wednesday : —We submitted a very large yarding- of sheep, the quality, generally speaking, being the best we have offered for a long time past. There was an unusually large attendance of buyers and bidding was spirited for all classes, yet, in several cases, owners"re serves were in advance of the market and business had to be done privately ; ono line of wethers only remained unsold. Wethers were keenly soughtf after, lambs and ewes in lambselling- at advanced prices. Over 500 head of cattle were, also, offered, but competition was .irregular'; full-grown bullocks sold at full values, young beasts, also, selling well, whilst middle-aged cattle received but little attention. The following prices were obtained :■— Fat ewes 13s 9d to lGs, forward wethers, for turnips 16s 3d to 16s od, good-CQwditroncd stores 15s 7d to 15s lOd, culls 11s 5d for very small iand poor to 13s, ewes in lamb 12s 9d to 14s" 7d and as high" as 17s 3d for specially good in high condition, empty ewes 11s to Ids 3d according to condition, lambs 10s to Us 6d for woollies, 7s lid to 9s lOd for poor to good shorn,, forward bullocks, on account of Mr N. Moore, of Hikurangi, good quality stuff. £6 7s 6d to £6 9s 6d, cows and calves £4 10s to £5, plain butchers' cows £4 to £4 12s (id, empty cows £3 ss. 2-year steers £4 to £4 9s, g-oo'd weaners 36s 6d to £2 7s, fair 26s to 31s pigs (slips) 12s 6d to 20s.
