• Ch_istc____ch, March 17. The members of the committee of the Richmond School, one of the most im portant of the city schools, resigned last night in a body owing to the action of the Education Board in postponing the acceptance of the resignation of the master, with whom the committee had had a dispute and whose resignation they had accepted. The Board refused to consider the matter until after the examinations, and the committee decided that their position was untenable. Wakganui. March 17.

A Maori prisoner who was being brought from a train from Marton to Wanganui to serve a sentence for false pretences jumped through a carriage wind.w just after leaving Okoia on Tuesday evening. The police search was fruitless, but this morning he surrendered himself to the authorities.

Great activity prevails at *ha Auckland forts, especially in relation to the mining appliances, which repors says are being increased.
