So far efforts to ccet the barque Lutterworth- off the rocks at the entrance to the harbour, just alongside the Arrow liock, hi«ve been unavailing At lowwater her keel was resting on mussel covered rocks, and she was helling over to port and resting on her keel and bilge, and no damage could be seen. She is not likely to come off to-night, the tide having turned.
Auckland, January 19. During the past year the total quantity of flax exported from Auckland was 5500 tons, which at an average of £25 per ton gives the value of this industry to Auckland for the twelve months as £137,500.
Dr Clark, of the Christian Endeavour Society, received an enthusiastic wel come from the representatives of the Anglican and Nonconformist bodies today. A number of speeches were delivered, and Dr Clark gave an interesting reply, sketching the history of the movement. He said the eyes of America were turned towards New Zealand, the land of experimental legislation. Some of these experiments would no doubt be adopted by America. '
