Ashhurst Notes.
(From our own Correspondent.)
The. united trades picnic was one of the largest held in the Domain for some considerable tune. It is estimate*:! there were over one thousand people present. Unfortunately several persons were noticed removing ferns and ,tree i blossoms notwithstanding the bylaws provide for punishment, in such instances. No doubt the Board will have to take action against perpetrators of such vandalism.
Report, has .'it that a smooth-faced stranger was noticed carrying an in-nocent-looking box on the Domain, the idea being to establish a, miniature Monte Carlo, the chief attraction, being ••' roul'ette." If such'was the case no doubt the long arm oi the law will in due course affectionately embrace him.
The ranger will cease impounding off the roads during the day time, on Friday next.
The Salvation Army have a musical evening and coffee supper tomorrow night.i
Messrs C. Wycherley, G-. Brewer, and J. Woods have returned from their visit to England.
