Forcible Langnagc from tho ilftnch. Judge Conolly Threatens Accused Press Association. Auckland, This Dii}-. Another extraordinary scene occurred in the proceedings against Hicbardson, charged with dofamatory libel. Iteferring to Judge Conolly's strictures upon his method of examining witnesses by Jiecused shouting, he again charged his I Honor with bins'. i Judge Conolly said, "That is a most j infamous assyrtinn and a lie. I have never given so much indulgence to any prisoner. All I get is abuse." Accused .said Judge Conolly had never had such a ccse before. This was a liquor conspiracy. LI is Honor said he would have decency in tin's Court. Accused ,';aid that whenever he got a 1 chance of gutting some evi<:l»nee, it was shut out !>y every trL-la-ry of tho Court! His Honor: "This ismostabominable. I do not know why I stand it and will r:ct stand it much longer. I We submitted to your insolence four days. If I have any more cf it I will commit you on tho spot." Accused .- " Y,>ry we ll. You wili have a chance v this sort of things continue." His Honor: "You are addressing people outside the Court who have nothing to do with the case." Accused : " Have'nt they. If (heir mot-lieis and brothers and sisters are being killed—" His Honor : '• I order \ou to be silent except to pur, proper questions."
