Borough Council.
A special 'meeting of the Borough Council was hold last night. Present — His Worship tho Mayor (Mr W. T. Wood), Crs Haydon, Johnston, Ravenhill, Armstrong, France, Guy, Copeland and Mowlem.
The Council discussed tho draft of tho rules to govern the proceedings of tho Council, and after approving of them they were adopted.
Tbo Council next considered the proposed agreement between the Longburn Freezing Company re tho abattoir, and after several amendments were made it was adopted, and referred back to tho Company. - A report was received from the Sanitary Inspector, but was held over pending receipt of further information from Mr Bastin.
Cr Johnston moved that a one-burnor are lamp bo erected in Broad-street, opposite tbe Catholic Church, in lieu of the ordinary one now on tho telephone post.—Carried.
Cr Haydon moved that the footpath in Broad-street fronting the flour mill, be constructed.—Carried. -~
Cr Haydon moved that two are lamps bo erected in Albert-street, and tbat tho one in Terrace-street be altered. That an aro lamp bo erected at the corner of Linton-ctreot and Purk road. That two be creoled in Ferguson-.treet: two in Cook-street; one in Fritz-stroet; and ono removed from Park road to Linton-stroct.—Carried.
Leavo was granted to erect a porch at the back of the new shops in the Commercial Hotel building. Several licenses were granted to drivers.
Cr Armstrong moved that this Council desires to place on record its regret that the amended draft agreement re tho abattoir should havo been so long under consideration by the National Mortgage and Agency Co., or their solicitors.— Carried.
The Council then adjourned
