BROKEN HILL PROPRIETARY •■-.:■■ COMPANY. , Melbotjene, July 27.\ At the half-yearly meeting of the Broken Hill Proprietary Company, it was shown that the profits amounted to £87,600, while £120,000 had been dis- i tributed in dividends. The Chairman stated that the directors did not consider it desirable at present to declare a dividend, but at the next quarterly meeting they would be in a better position to judge of the possibilities of the future, and would act accordingly. Lord Salisbury announced in the House of Lords that the addition to King Edward's titles will probably be " King of the British dominions beyond the sea." ' . ■ x The Times says the title indicated by Lord-Salisbury is not beyond criticism. Possibly it is not included, in the Bill because the precise form- is not determined. Generally speaking, however, the title is approved. The Titles Bill allows the King to select and proclaim, within six l months of the Bill being passed, any title he sees fit with a view to recognising the "British dominions beyond the Seas."

Barnes, Official Receiver, has made startling'revelations in connection with the London and, Globe Finance Corporation handing shares to the British-American Corporation, with a view to covering its indebtedness prior to publication of its balance-sheet in December last. He instanced the transfer of two hundred thousand Westleroi Mining Company's, shares ex dividend. The Westleroi Company had five undeveloped claims costing 38,000 dollars and representing issues of capital to the extent of 437,000. Secondly, the London and Globe Corporation paid the BritishAmerican Corporation 200,000 by giving a half interest in five claims which cos I 35,000 dollars. Mr Barnes was invited to liquid;;i.u the London and Globe Corporation, in. conjunction with a committee of inspection. ■•■.■•■.
