The Walter Bentley Season.
In selecting "The Silver King" as the play wherewith to inaugurate the season here, commencing next Monday evening, the management has done well, for it is a play which has established itself as a favourite throughout the English-speaking world. The reason for this is obvious, for " The Silver King " is one of the very best of modern melodramas, from both a literary and dramatic standpoint. The plot is simple and probable, while being absorbingly interesting; the characters are true types of humanity, each and all being connected with tho story, and bearing k distinctive traits; and given a suitable presentation, the audience is carried away by the piece, and becomes oblivious to the fact, that after all "The SilvetKing "is but a play. The scenery for this drama will arrive here to-morrow and will at once be placed in position under the personal supervision of Mr Douglas Ancelon's mechanist.
