The correspondent soon after had another strauge meeting, but with a tragic ending. *' On my way down country homewards," he says, •' I met at Belmont a traiti with 300 wounded. One yelled out 'Yes' I !>.;k d him if he waited any message taks-'.n Home, and then we started walking along the permanent j way, becau3^ I concluded from his answer that his communication was of a private character. The fallow was exceedingly excited and delighted £t the possibility of a fellow-countryman de ive.-ing a verbal message, The excitement, however, was too much for him, and before I had an opportunity of finding his name or anything about his relatives he fell dead on the ground. Ha had been severely wounded just prior to the capture of Cronje Dy an explosive bullet."
