A NARROW ESCAPE.
Hobart, May 17. Tho Rakaia.s files describe the attack on General Lord Methuen's force when retiring from Boshof. Two thousand Boers with a couple of guns and pompoms made several determined efforts to capture the long convoy in a difficult kopje country. They got so close on one occasion that talking and orders were heard. The protecting force, consisting of the Kimberley mounted force and somo Yorkshire Hussars, did splendid and rapid work with deadly volleys at short range, and they repeatedly droye off the Boers.
