Pohangina County Requirements.

Advantage was taken by the County Council of the Commissioner of Crown Lands' (Mr MarchantJ presence at Pohangina on Saturday to bring.the following matters before his notice, namely, Arbon's road, a portion of which had been abandoned in order to maEe a deviation, Mr Arbon being now depirous of purchasing the adjoining reserve; in reply to this the Commissioner said the Land Board would have the necessary survey made, and that the road up the __-- hill, which it was intended to abandon, would have to be closed by the Council.

Re the Makiekie-Pohangirf Valley road connection survey: the df partment did not recognise any obligatVn to survey this road, and it would ha jjf to be done by the Council. The Council having asked that reserves 56 and 58, PobaDgina, be set aside for use as a pound, the Commissioner promised to do so if it was found possible. The Commissioner, in reply to an enquire when the bush would be felled in the 1 Umutoi township, said be would try and get the money for this and, also, Makoura, during the coming session. On being asked for power to impound catt'e off the Totara Reserve, the Commissioner said the Land Board would be pleased to grant the request. The Pohangina bridge was not within his department, but Mr Marchant consented to place before th* Surveyor-General the Council's desire that the Government Engineer inspect the site of the proposed bridge as soon as possible.
