Complimentary Social.

(Our Own Correspondent.) 1 Last night as a compliment to Mr A. ' "Watson, student, a farewell social was given by the members of the Shannon Presbyterian congregation. For the past two years Mr "Watson has ministered . to the spiritual wants of his people here I with great efficiency, and has won, by ' his marked preaching ability and tact, ( the confidonce and affection of his own 1 flock and the regard of other denomina- ' tions, which was testified to by the j presence of people of all denominations i from all over this and other districts ! to which he ministered. His removal is • regretted by all who know him, but it is , greatly to his advantage, and our loss . will be the gain of some other congregation. He bears with him the good i wishes of all his friends here, who will i not fail to watch his course and progress I with interest and pleasure ; for we are I certain that in days to come he will be ' a star in the Presbyterian church of New I Zealand.
