I At an enthusiastic meeting last night, \ to consider the forming of a mounted : rifle corps, Mr Syrnes, M.H.R., explained j that t?ae Minister of Defence was willing i to >«.cept mounted rifles only in country ■ di --tricts. A resolution was carried to ' .form a corps. Sixty three names were : handed in at once, a large proportion '>■ being farmers and farmer's sons. An opinion was expressed Government , should also accept infantry corps and ' give townsmen an opportunity to get j military training. A strong feeling was expressed that Government be urged to accept an infantry and artillery cores here. Plenty of men are willing to join.
