The Kimberley Gold Rush.
A gentleman m Christ church who recently telegraphed to Melbourne for particulars as to the reported gold rush m Western Australia has, m addition to the cable message which we recently published, received a letter from a correspondent giving further particular* The writer says, >( There are several expeditions being formed to go. It is not a poor man's digging." The local paper at Perth published yesterday a telegram from W. Mather, dated Freeraantle Bth, ai follows : — Forty-two ounces was obtained m one day by two men at the Kiraberley goldfields ; 6500z of gold are reported to be m the hands of the diggers, including a 19oz nugget found m shallow sinking. The prospecting party, who brought the gold into Derby, came into Freemantle for provisions, leaving fifty men working on the goldfield when they left. It was reported that the gold was very near the surface. Thero is every promise of a great goldfield. Heavy tropical rains had fallen recently where the party was. working. The 19oz nugget is on the way to Freemantle. Another parcel of gold, containing. 60oz, is coming m the steamer Otway."
