Native Laad Court.

The Native, Land Court, under Judge L. O'Brion and Assessor To Waru, opened at Otaki punctually at noon on Friday, Mr B. Booth acted as iutrepreter. Several native&apTvlied for a week's adjournment to go J -and ■'"'. tarigi " over Kawana, Hunui. ; Tiio -learned Judge, however, said he could not comply withtheir request; that the Court had coma, and the Court must sif and jret on with the work. To Puke te Ao,, M.H.R., then wanted his cases. nut oil sine die, as he had to go to ' Wellington m two weeks to attend to his' Parliamentary duties ; he was told ho could commence his cases at once, and probably they would be put through before that time. An application was then made for a number of cases to be held m Foxton. The Judge consented- to this, and' the Foxton and Palmerston cases were all picked-out for hearing at Foxton. The Court then adjourned till 10 a.m. on Saturday, when it dealt with a number ol succession claims. The Court re-opened again on Monday, at 10 a.m. The following is an epitome of the work gazetted to be heard : — One hundred and seventeen new claims, inclusive of ton adjourned from the last sitting of the Court m 1888 ; one hundred and eighty-four applications to succeed parties deceased ; two applications to be appointed Trustees to certain minors, m Himatangi No. 2 and Te Eairanga Blocks ; one hundred and twelve applications for subdivision. In addition to these latter, the subdivisions of Manawatu-Kukutauaki No. 7 G and Opaekete, made and surveyed by one hapu, will be objected to by another hapu. — Foxton paper.
