THE CHICAGO GIRL.
Tbe typical Chicago girl, who is known all over the United States as tbe possessor of the largest feet in America, has been cruelly libelled. A Boston paper recently declared that she habitually talked slang, and made use of such expressions as “getting left,” “corraled a handkerchief,"and “put in his best licks',” A reporter once called upon a repre sentative young lady, who belongs to one of the fir.it families of that cityand askad her what she thought of the assertion. “Tnis is a fish story,” she replied with natural indignation. “The fellow who wrote it is ’way off his base- There may be some of us who sling s'ang ; but I never work the slang racket myself, not this child and now you here my bazoo! We can discount Boston on beauty ; and, as for accomplishments, why that’s where we hold a full hand. Take me for example. I can paw the ivory ; I can warble a few warbs , I can elocute. Boston girls are disgruntled Tbe fact is that they have got to hustle to keep with us; and don’t let you forget it.” This interview seems to have settled the question. The libellous Boston paper should now apologise.
